FORTEBASS was established at the end of 2012. Having worked for a long time with grand piano companies in Kalisz, I decided to try my hand at producing and supplying my strings directly to customers in Poland and abroad. The bass strings which I make enjoy a good opinion among professionals. I take very effort complete orders at the possibly shortest time. A ready set of strings is quickly delivered to a customer using a courier service.

For manufacturing purposes I use high-quality material provided by trustworthy German suppliers including steel wire by RÖSLAU GmbH. I use it to make the string core which is then coated with copper wire by DEGEN from Feindrahtwerk Adolf Edelhoff. I always use the best material available in the market.

Certainly, it takes more than just making strings. In order to complete an order, time-consuming and necessary calculations are needed. A number of dependences are of importance between the speaking length, the total string diameter and its core. Maintaining suitable proportions between those values, their appropriate correlation essentially affects the string’s sonorousness thereby affecting the instrument’s sound quality. Each instrument needs to be handled individually. I have spent years to acquire this knowledge.

No doubt, the biggest advantage is that I work on my own, which means that I am directly responsible for string quality. As a result, you may expect the quality to keep the same level every time. Any time your piano or grand piano is repaired in Kalisz, there is a big chance bass strings have been made by me!
